PROJECT DOCUMENTATION
This site specific exploration of the juxtaposition of the textured lichen covered rock and crumpled glinting aluminium foil uses materiality to bring attention to the alarming environmental impact of bauxite mining which has become a serious issue in Western Australia. Open-pit mining requires large surface areas and necessitates the removal of topsoil and vegetation to access materials that lie underneath. Therefore, existing biodiversity, such as habitats of animal and plant species, are destroyed during the time of material extraction.
