A natural progression in Christie-Coxon’s process-driven work has been the decision to collaborate directly with the natural environment; the landscape becomes the canvas, elemental forces the medium.

This expansion includes site-specific interventions where the artist engages directly with natural surroundings, through a balance of intuition, planning and spontaneous action at the intersection of installation and intervention with performance elements. The project is documented on-site to become photographic artworks and limited editions. These ephemeral happenings, changing landscapes and moments in time with nature emphasises connection to the environment and process.

These environmental interventions are an extension of the artist’s painting process of facilitating and recording process driven happenings. Her environmental work challenges the notion of separation between humanity and nature, instead celebrating their unity.

Christie-Coxon has been making her way into new places and spaces over the years to explore connectivity and commonality through art and the environment. At the core are the key themes which underpin Christie-Coxon’s ongoing work over the past three decades: duality, process, spontaneity, and sustainability.
